3 Night Nile Itinerary: Aswan to Luxor

Sail from Aswan toward the ancient heart of Luxor aboard Rafaheya, where time slows and every ripple of the Nile whispers a story. From the warmth of Nubian villages to the majesty of Kom Ombo and Edfu, each day reveals a new vision of Egypt’s eternal beauty. As the dahabeya glides between temples carved in stone and golden islands bathed in sunset light, you’ll dine under a canopy of stars and wake to the soft rhythm of the river. This short yet profound journey captures the essence of Egypt — intimate, authentic, and eternally serene.

Day 1

Aswan | Al-Hirbiab Island

Embarkation and check-in take place in Aswan at 12:00 PM, as you step aboard Rafaheya and ease into the gentle rhythm of the Nile. Once settled in your cabin, enjoy an exquisite à la carte lunch on board, surrounded by the graceful ambiance that will define your journey. If time permits, explore the highlights of Aswan, a city celebrated for its Nubian heritage and the granite quarries that supplied Egypt’s greatest monuments. In the late afternoon, join the Captain’s Welcome Cocktail before the dahabeya sets sail toward Al-Hirbiab Island. As night falls, a traditional Nubian family-style dinner awaits on the sandy shores of the island, accompanied by music and performances evoking the warmth of Nubian culture.

Overnight moored at Al-Hirbiab Island.

Day 2

Kom Ombo | Gebel el-Silsila | Edfu | Esna

Awake to breakfast on board as the dahabeya sails north to Kom Ombo, where the distinctive twin temple dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god, and Haroeris, the falcon god, rises dramatically on the riverbank. Returning on board, enjoy a lively cooking class led by the chef, followed by a leisurely sail past the imposing sandstone quarries of Gebel el-Silsila, once the source of Egypt’s great temples. A barbecue lunch is served on deck, after which you disembark to admire the magnificent Temple of Horus at Edfu, one of the best-preserved sanctuaries of the ancient world. Continue sailing toward Esna, where the afternoon brings a Nubian tea service on deck. In the evening, an à la carte dinner is served as the vessel passes through the Esna Lock, with entertainment to close the day.

Overnight moored near a peaceful island.

Day 3

Esna | Luxor

Sail at dawn toward Luxor, enjoying a tranquil breakfast as the city’s ancient silhouette comes into view. On the West Bank, you may choose to explore the Valley of the Kings — suggested highlights include the tomb of Tutankhamun — as well as the Temple of Hatshepsut and the Colossi of Memnon. Return on board for a refined lunch before continuing to the East Bank, where the vast complex of Karnak and the illuminated Luxor Temple reveal their timeless splendor. In the evening, gather on board for a festive Egyptian-themed dinner buffet, accompanied by live entertainment.

Overnight in Luxor.

Day 4

Luxor

Enjoy your final breakfast on board, perhaps paired with a quiet moment on the deck to take in the morning light over the Nile. Disembark in Luxor to continue your journey whether delving further into Egypt’s treasures or beginning your onward travels.
