Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We are delighted to provide you with the following information to help you prepare for your journey aboard Rafaheya. Should you have additional questions, our Reservations Team will be pleased to assist you at reservations@rafaheya.com.

  • Do you arrange airport transfers?
Yes. Private transfers can be arranged from the airport or your hotel to the embarkation port in Luxor or Aswan. This service is available at an additional cost and may be reserved in advance for a seamless arrival.
  • What are the best months to sail the Nile?
Egypt is a year-round destination. The most popular months are September through April, when the weather is milder and ideal for sightseeing. Summer months (May–August) bring warmer days, yet sailing on the Nile with refreshing breezes remains an enjoyable experience.
  • What are the check-in and check-out times?
Check-in: from 12:00 PM on the day of embarkation.
Check-out: by 8:00 AM on the day of disembarkation.
Guests arriving earlier or departing later are welcome to relax in our lounge and public areas until cabins are ready or after check-out. Early check-in and late check-out may be offered subject to availability and a supplement.
  • What itineraries does Rafaheya offer?
Rafaheya offers 3-to-7-night sailing between Luxor and Aswan along with exclusive charters for private groups or special occasions. Itineraries may be enhanced with optional excursions, guided by expert Egyptologists, available at an additional cost.

Yes, children are warmly welcomed under the following policy:

  • What should I wear on board and during excursions?
On board, attire is relaxed yet refined. Lightweight cotton clothing is recommended during the day, complemented by a hat and sunscreen. Evenings call for elegant casual wear.
For temple and mosque visits, modest clothing (covering shoulders and knees) is recommended. Comfortable walking shoes are essential for excursions.
  • Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes. Wi-Fi is included in your stay. Please note that connectivity may be limited or intermittent during certain stretches of the Nile.
  • Do I need a visa to travel to Egypt?
A valid passport (minimum validity of 6 months after departure) and entry visa are required for most travelers. Please check requirements specific to your nationality prior to travel.
  • What currency is accepted on board?
All charges on board are in USD. Payments may be made in cash (USD, EUR, or EGP) or by Visa/Mastercard. In accordance with Egyptian law, change is given in Egyptian Pounds (EGP).
  • Do I need to tip the staff?
Gratuities are not included. While always at your discretion, it is customary in Egypt to offer a tip of approximately 10–15%. For private charters aboard Rafaheya, a collective gratuity of around USD 120 per night is customary for the eight crew members who ensure the seamless comfort of your journey. Tips for your Egyptologist guide are separate, and we recommend leaving one envelope with the Master or Boat Manager at the end of the voyage.
  • What are the electricity specifications?
Rafaheya operates on 220/380 volts with European two-pin sockets. Guests from other regions may require an adapter.
  • Can I smoke on board?
Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is permitted only in designated areas. Smoking is strictly prohibited inside cabins, suites, dining venues, lounges, and all other interior spaces.
  • Is it safe to swim in the Nile?
Swimming in the Nile is not recommended, as currents can be unpredictable and water conditions vary along the river. While certain stretches near Aswan are considered calmer and relatively cleaner, guests are kindly advised that swimming is at their own discretion and risk.
  • Is private charter available?
Yes. Rafaheya is available for exclusive private charters, offering a fully personalized journey ideal for families, groups of friends, or special celebrations. Itineraries, menus, and excursions can be tailored to your wishes.
